LAWYERS, ACCOUNTANTS AND COACHES BANNED FROM NETWORKING EVENT
Several leading professions are “NFI” – not flipping invited – to a networking event in London in January. NFI Networking is excluding trades that are normally overrepresented at events to increase diversity and make the experience more successful for those that are welcome. Those barred are life and business coaches, NLP practitioners, lawyers, accountants, financial advisors, money-lenders and those who adopt the vague tag of ‘entrepreneur’.
“Networking events can be overrun with certain groups of people making them a waste of time for attendees,” said a spokesperson for NFI Networking, remaining anonymous for fear of reprisals from disgruntled life coaches. “By making these industries NFI we ensure that all delegates can have a positive day of networking without the frustrations of meeting too many people from the same profession. It's not because we don't like these people, and we'd rather they didn't take it too personally or seriously. It's just that they're so over represented at networking meetings, that it's very difficult to meet other people. Our event is about back-scratching, offering selfless advice and doing favours. It's about business karma.”
The event is also about meeting a diverse group of business people, so attendees are requested to bring along a representative from another industry not on the NFI list. After the event, all will be asked to post a comment to the NFI Networking blog or LinkedIn group about the selfless advice, help and sales leads that were offered. This will prove who was helpful.
The event will be held at 6pm on 28th January 2010 at The Woodstore Bar and Grill, London N7. For full information, entry requirements and to register candidates should use the website www.nfinetworking.com. Those that ignore the NFI list will be politely asked to leave.
